A one minute video is worth 1.8 million words, that’s right, 1.8 million words. You may recall the 1979 song “Video killed the Radio Star,” which declared the demise of radio and ushered us if you will, in to the era of music videos. More than four decades later, video is swiftly replacing the written word. Think of it this way:

  • 1 picture = 1000 words
  • 1 second of video = 30 frames per second
  • 60 seconds = 1 minute
  • 1 frame = 1 picture

So:

  • 30 pictures per second x 1000 words = 30000 words per second
  • 60 seconds x 30000 words / sec = 1.8 million words!
