09 Mar Why professional video production is worth 1.8 million words for your brand
Whether you’re selling a new tech gadget or something that could be viewed as boring (such as financial services or insurance policies), videos can help you liven up your product. When you partner with an experienced marketing company or video production company, they will be able to use things such as 3D animation to bring life to dry subjects. Videos are definitely a must for small to medium sized businesses. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, then one minute of video is worth 1.8 million words. Here’s where this number comes from:
- 1 picture = 1000 words
- 1 second of video = 30 frames per second
- 60 seconds = 1 minute
- 1 frame = 1 picture
- 30 pictures per second x 1000 words = 30000 words per second
- 60 seconds x 30000 words / sec = 1.8 million words!
The world’s population continues to grow and the way we interact with content online continues to change. According to a study by eMarketer.com, this year (2015) marks the year that 76% of the world’s online audience (roughly 200 million people) will be viewing video on a regular basis. As much as we still like to create and consume written content, videos are becoming more powerful than words simply because people think visually and here’s why: when we read, the printed words are converted to visual images in our mind. If the information is presented as images rather than words, our minds are able to grasp more meaning and make connections between the information we are consuming within a shorter amount of time.
I’m not saying that videos will replace all the written content online, or that you should forego a radio advertising campaign and replace it with a video. Smart business owners, however, will see video production as a complementary, more vigorous and direct means of communicating with their target audience.
